On October 14, 2014, President of Mexico Worker Housing Federation (INFONAVIT) Alejandro Murat Hinojosa leading a 16-member group visited UPSC. Honorary President ZOU Deci, Vice President & Secretary General SHI Nan, Secretary General of Residential Area Planning Committee SHAO Lei warmly welcomed the group and gave introductions about UPSC, China’s urbanization, and China’s housing policies.
Young Planning Professionals (YPP) program co-organized by Youth Committee and ISOCARP was held in Shenzhen June 23-27, 2014. The workshop was supported by Shenzhen Branch of China Academy of Urban Planning and Design together with Urban Planning and Design Institute of Shenzhen. YPP program is a crucial component of ISOCARP’s dedication to promote and enhance global planning profession.
Vice President & Secretary General SHI Nan leading a group of 6 members attended the World Urban Forum 7 which was held by UNHABITAT in Medellin, Colombia from April 5 to11, 2014. The theme was Urban Equity in Development-Cities for Life. It was the fourth time that UPSC delegation attended the World Urban Forum. “The State of China’s Cities 2014/2015” published by International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, UPSC and UNHABITAT was launched at the forum.
In April 2014, the 3rd International Symposium on Rail Transit Comprehensive Development was held in Shenzhen. The theme was Planning Administration and Resources Integration of Rail Transit Hub with two subtopics on “Whole-Process Administration of Urban-Rural Planning” and “Allocation and Administration of Land and Resources”. The keynote speakers were from Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Guiyang and Xiamen.
Taiwan Transportation Institute, Taiwan Policy Federation, Kainan University and UPSC jointly organized the Forum on City Transportation Development Trend in Taiwan and Mainland China on August 13, 2013, which was supported by China Association for Science and Technology. About 100 urban planning and transportation professionals took part in the forum. Vice President WANG Jingxia led a group of 16 experts from Beijing, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Chongqing to Taiwan.
The International Symposium on Low-Carbon Eco-City, hosted by UPSC, University Union on Low-Carbon Eco-City, Technical University of Berlin, Portland State University and University of California Davis, was held at Shenzhen University in June 2013. After the symposium, the participants had a technical tour to the Shenzhen Guangming New Area.
The 2nd International Symposium on Rail Transit Comprehensive Development, hosted by UPSC and Investment Association of China, was held from January 11 to12, 2013 at Beijing Jiaotong University. The theme of the symposium was Comprehensive Development and Planning of Land along Rail Transit.
Sponsored by International Association for China Planning(IACP), UPSC, Wuhan University and Wuhan Land Resources and Planning Bureau, 6th IACP Conference was held in Wuhan in November 2012. The theme was China’s Urbanization in Transformation: Challenges and Opportunities. More than 200 people attended the conference.
In 2011, cooperated with World Bank Institute, Chinese Academy of Governance, UPSC developed an online course on Sustainable Urban Land Use Planning, which was adapted from the original course of the same name of the World Bank Institute. About two hundred planning professionals participated in the course from November 5 to December 3, 2012.
On April 25, 2012, UPSC and ISOCARP jointly held “China Special” symposium at Metropolitan Solutions, Hannover Messe 2012.The topics included: high speed railways in China, sustainable urban development in China, efficient urbanization solutions for China, low carbon future cities, city development in China and “Old Europe” etc.
