UPSC delegation attended 48th International Planning Congress
The 48th International Planning Congress was held in Perm, Russia from September 10 to 13, 2011. The theme was Fast Forward: Planning in a (hyper) Dynamic Urban Context. ISOCARP Vice President, Vice President & Secretary General of UPSC SHI Nan moderated the plenary session, attended the EXCO meeting and Bureau meeting. UPSC Vice President & CAUPD President, LI Xiaojiang gave a keynote speech.

2nd International Conference on China’s Urban Transition and City Planning held in Cardiff
The 2nd International Conference on China’s Urban Transition and City Planning sponsored by School of City and Regional Planning, Cardiff University, supported by UPSC was held at Cardiff May 27-28, 2011.The conference themes included: urbanization, rural to urban migration, urban redevelopment, relocation and demolition, land and housing development, urban social and spatial inequalities, urban economic restructuring, sustainable places, city planning and policies etc.

5th IACP Conference held in Beijing
The 5th International Association for China Planning (IACP) Conference was held at Renmin University of China in Beijing from June 17 to 19, 2011. More than 250 people attended the conference, including participants from North America, Europe, Australia, Africa, the Middle East and East Asia and over 100 papers were delivered. The conference language was English with bilingual translation of opening and keynote speeches.

47th International Planning Congress held in Wuhan
The 47th International Planning Congress, organized by International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), sponsored by Urban Planning Society of China and Wuhan Municipal Government, was held from October 25 to 28, 2011. The International Planning Congress is one of the top conferences on urban planning in the world.

Vice President & Secretary General SHI Nan elected Vice President of ISOCARP
During the 47th ISOCARP international planning congress in Wuhan October 25-28, 2011, Vice President& Secretary General of UPSC SHI Nan was elected as Vice President of International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP). So far, he is the first Chinese scientist who enters the executive committee of international planning organizations. From 2011-2014, SHI Nan will participate in EXCO meetings to discuss issues pertaining to the future development of ISOCARP.
