Before the final scheme review conference, the scheme review committee conducted a survey at the important nodes of the water system of the Grand Canal and the Xiyan lake, as well as reviewed the texts, exhibition boards and models of the three schemes. On the conference, the committee listened to the oral presentations made by three applicants and voted for the ranking after a thorough discussion. The committee agreed that the three schemes, with an international vision and forward-looking thinking, put forward future visions on the development of XESTC and contributed high-level achievements to promote the development of the poetic "Watery Towns in Southern China" into an ecological science and technology new city integrating production, life and ecology.
