The 100th Anniversary of Mr. Shen Yulin's Birth Seminar on Educational Thoughts

On December 18,2021, the "100th anniversary of Mr. Shen Yulin's Birth and Seminar on Educational Thoughts" sponsored by UPSC and Tianjin University was successfully held in Tianjin University.

As one of the pioneers of urban planning in China and the founder of urban planning major of Tianjin University, Mr. Shen devoted his life to the cause of education, established morality and talents, devoted himself to learning, trained a large number of elite talents for the country, and made outstanding contributions to China's urban planning.

Mr. Shen Yulin graduated from the University of Illinois, after his graduation and returning to China, he was employed by the Department of Architecture of Tangshan Institute of Technology, China Jiaotong University. With the adjustment of the departments in 1952, the department merged into Tianjin University, and he served as a professor in the Department of Architecture of Tianjin University.

At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Prof. Kong Yuhang, the host of the opening ceremony, delivered a welcome speech, announced the official start of the event, and thanked all online and offline guests attending the meeting on behalf of the direction of the event.

Academician Wang stressed that Mr. Shen has devoted his life experience, trained a large number of excellent students, and made an extremely important contribution to the cause of higher education in New China. He is the pride of Tianjin University.

Shi Nan, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of UPSC

Secretary General Shi proposed that the older generation of planners represented by Mr. Shen are the founders of urban planning in New China. Mr. Shen's achievements have been recorded in history. Shi stressed that we should salute Mr. Shen Yulin for his spirit, style and character, and push the urban planning, construction and management to a higher level.

Cui Kai, Academician of CAE, Chief Architect of China Architectural Design and Research Group（CADG）

Academician Cui hoped that the legacy of architecture and urban planning education left by Mr. Shen should be passed on from generation to generation.

Duan Jin, Academician of CAS, Professor of the School of Architecture, Southeast University

On the occasion of Mr. Shen's Centennial birthday, Academician Duan sincerely express his gratitude and nostalgia for Mr. Shen, and he also hope that future generations will pass on the firewood from generation to generation, develop and spread our planning career.
