The 47th International Planning Congress, organized by International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), sponsored by Urban Planning Society of China and Wuhan Municipal Government, was held from October 25 to 28, 2011. The International Planning Congress is one of the top conferences on urban planning in the world.
More than 2000 people attended the meeting including international planning experts from 48 countries and regions, and participants from city planning administration departments, urban planning and design institutes, universities and so on. It was the second time the International Planning Congress was held in China. In 2008 the 44th congress was held in Dalian.
