2024-07-01

Trans-Asian Railway Corridor refers to the regional railway network initiated by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to connect Europe and Asia. Its Southeast Asian section of about 13,640 km long that comprises the Eastern, Central, and Western lines enhances the connectivity of China with Southeast Asia to foster an economic and trade conduit in the region. Up to now, the completion of the Central line, known as the Laos-China Railway, has substantially improved the regional transportation and stimulated growth in logistics and tourism.
