The concept of New Mode of Urbanization was officially proposed for the first time on the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. In contrast to the traditional urbanization pattern, it emphasizes the essential features of urban-rural integrated development, interactive development between urban areas and industries, economical and intensive development, eco-development, and harmonious development, so as to create a livable environment by means of coordinated development and mutual promotion between large, mediumsized and small cities, towns, and new-type rural communities.
