Smart City

At the time when information technology solutions to urban problems gushed out, “smart city” or “intelligent city” as a new development concept emerged. In China, academic discussions about smart city saw a new round of upsurge and the explorations on smart city also became heated in the planning field. To launch the national “Smart City” strategy, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has not only issued the evaluation index system of smart city, but also announced hundreds of cities (districts/counties/ towns) as experimental sites of smart city. By combining the advanced information technology with the urban infrastructure, urban institution, urban management, urban construction, and urban economy, the concept of smart city aims at making the operation of a city more secure, efficient, convenient, and greener.
