Points-Based Hukou System

According to the new-type urbanization strategy of China, the points-based hukou system was initiated in certain cities recently, acting as a progressive reform on the traditional household registration (hukou) system. In general, the rural migrants who have achieved a certain number of scores, based on their conditions of employment, accommodation, social insurance, period of residence, etc., may apply for the permanent urban residence certificate.
