Public Health Emergencies

It refers to the outbreak of major infectious diseases, mass unexplained diseases, major food and occupational poisoning, and other events seriously affecting public health, which suddenly occur and cause, or may cause, serious damage to public health. According to China’s National Plan for Rapid Response to Public Health Emergencies, public health emergencies can be classified into four levels according to the nature, harm degree, and impact scope, i.e., significant (level I), major (level II), high (level III), and general (level IV).
