Poverty Alleviation Resettlement

2023-07-27

As an integral part of the Targeted Poverty Alleviation Program initiated since 2015, the policy of Poverty Alleviation Resettlement refers to relocating the impoverished population from inhospitable areas to habitable places where they are provided with a better living environment and better economic prospects through public engagement, so that they can gradually get rid of poverty. It was announced by the State Council Information Office in Beijing on Dec. 3, 2020 that China had completed its task of poverty alleviation resettlement in the 13th Five-Year Plan period, with more than 9.6 million registered poor people resettled in new homes.
