Urban Resilience

2023-12-27 | Science Direct

In recent years, a variety of natural and man-made disasters such as earthquakes and floods have frequently occurred on a global scale. Against this backdrop, assessing urban resilience has become increasingly important. Urban resilience refers to the ability of cities to rapidly adapt, recover, and rebuild in the face of various stresses, shocks, and disasters. Currently, urban resilience has emerged as a novel research perspective and analytical tool in the scientific fields of global environmental change and urban sustainability. Scholars primarily conduct research in areas such as adaptive urban governance, climate change and urban resilience, sustainable management of natural resources, and disaster prevention and mitigation. National and international organizations have also implemented related policy measures to strengthen the construction of urban resilience, ensuring the ongoing stability and sustainable development of cities.
