Global Release of the English Edition of Theory of Urban Spatial Development

Introduction

As the first Chinese academic work on urban development theories published under the Open Access model, the e-book edition of Theory of Urban Spatial Development by Academician Duan Jin, Vice President of the Urban Planning Society of China (UPSC), Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and National Engineering Survey and Design Master affiliated with Southeast University, is now available for global download starting today.

On September 3, 2024, Springer announced the release of Theory of Urban Spatial Development on the Springer Nature platform for international academic access.

This book represents the culmination of years of research by Academician Duan Jin, serving as both a theoretical monograph and a practical guide. Divided into nine comprehensive chapters, it systematically constructs a holistic, systematic, and integrated research framework for urban spatial development. In this work, Academician Duan emphasizes the significance of urban spatial planning, presents analyses on the role of urban planning interventions and China's urban spatial development models, explores the evolution of modern urban design methodologies, and outlines the principles and core components of national spatial planning.
