National Strategic Development Plan for Grenada has been approved by expert group

In December 2017, the National Strategic Development Plan for Grenada, jointly prepared by the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Science (hereinafter referred to as "IGSNRR"),the Institute of China Development Bank (hereinafter referred to as "ICDB") and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, etc., was approved in the final review of China Development Bank and won unanimous praise from the experts attending the meeting.

At the request of Grenada Government and entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China to ICDB, the National Strategic Development Plan for Grenada is a project aimed at providing strategic planning for Grenada. It is the second national development plan carried out by China in the Caribbean. The project was organized and coordinated by the ICDB, and jointly undertaken by IGSNRR, and the Institute of Latin American Studies and the Institute of World Economics and Politics in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. While IGSNRR was mainly responsible for spatial plan and the planning for tourism, agriculture, towns, transportation, energy and environment, etc.

Since the project was launched in April 2015, several expert seminars were organized. The technical team conducted field investigations in Grenada in August 2016. During the visit, Grenada government departments held discussions with representatives of Chinese institutions and enterprises in Grenada and communicated with Grenada's 2030 Planning Committee and technical team.

In the report ofthe National Strategic Development Plan for Grenada, the technical team carried out analysis and planning in the areas of spatial layout, economy and society, tourism, agriculture, population and education, transport infrastructure, energy security, environmental disasters, etc. The joint work on this planning is of certain strategic and practical significance for strengthening exchanges and cooperation between China and Grenada and the Caribbean and serve China-Latin America cooperation.
