On November 28,2021, the Press Conference on Global Cities in the Vision of the Belt and Road Initiative sponsored by the China Academy of Urban Planning & Design was held online. The Global cities in the vision of the belt and road report (2021) was issued by the conference, which is the third release since 2019. Facing the new characteristics and new trends of globalization, this year's report focuses on "Crossing the gap - the recovery of global cities". 513 cities around the world are selected as the research object. This report builds the global value vitality city index and the BRI potential urban index system and algorithm based on the inclusive and shared development perspective. In addition, it hopes to make a new observation on the characteristics of global urban recovery after the Covid-19 epidemic and reveal the turbulent changes in the global urban pattern.

Wang Kai, president of the China Academy of Urban Planning & Design, officially issued the report at the conference. In response to the new hot spots and trends of globalization, the report continued to improve the index system and algorithm, further expanded the cities sample to 513, and made new observations on the recovery characteristics of global cities after the Covid-19 epidemic. In his speech, Wang pointed out that global cities are gradually recovering from the impact of the epidemic, but they are also facing uncertainties and challenges. Under the test of the epidemic, Chinese and Asian cities have shown extraordinary resilience and vitality and have recovered rapidly. Looking ahead, we should adhere to the concept of openness and inclusiveness and promote a more balanced and inclusive globalization through open cooperation.
