Data shows that the China-Europe freight train has accumulated more than 40,000 trains, opened 73 operating routes, reached more than 160 cities in 23 European countries, and transported more than 50,000 goods, which effectively guaranteed the stability and smooth flow of the international industrial chain supply chain. Promote the common development of the region and add more momentum to the joint construction of the Belt and Road cooperation.

Since 2021, the opening of China-Europe freight trains has continued to maintain a strong growth momentum. As of the end of August, a total of 10,030 lines had been opened and 964,000 TEUs of containers had been sent, an increase of 32% and 40% year-on-year respectively. The round-trip comprehensive heavy container rate reached 97.9%, which was two months ahead of last year and achieved an annual opening of over 10,000 lines.
According to the person in charge of the freight department of the China Railway Group, since the first operation in 2011, the scope of China-Europe freight trains has been continuously expanding, and the categories of goods have gradually expanded. A new all-weather, large-volume, green and low-carbon land transportation channel has been built, which is vigorously promoted. Facilities along the One Belt One Road are connected and trade is unimpeded. Since the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, as of the end of June this year, China-Europe Express has shipped 12.32 million pieces and 96,000 tons of anti-epidemic materials to Europe, which has promoted people-to-people bonds.
A large number of cooperative projects take root
Over the past eight years, the level of international connectivity in the Belt and Road Initiative has continued to improve. At present, the structure of "six corridors, six routes, multiple countries and multiple ports" has basically taken shape, a large number of cooperative projects have taken root, and infrastructure connectivity has been continuously deepened.
On the one hand, significant progress has been made in railway cooperation projects. my country gives full play to its advantages in railway technology and construction, and increases cooperation with countries and regions along the Belt and Road. The Asia-Djibouti Railway, the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, the Rye Railway, and the Sino-Russian Tongjiang Railway Bridge were completed and opened to traffic, and the China-Laos Railway, China-Thailand Railway, Hungary-Serbia Railway, and Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway were completed and opened to traffic. The preliminary research on the upgrading and transformation of Pakistan's No. 1 railway line and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Ukraine railway is actively progressing.

On the other hand, speed up the promotion of highway connectivity with neighboring countries. The Kunming-Manchurian Highway, Kunming-Hanoi-Haiphong Highway, and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor “two major” highways were opened to traffic, the China-Russia Heihe Highway Bridge was completed, and the construction of “Shuangxi Highway” (Western China-Western Europe) was progressing steadily. Taking the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as a cooperation platform, my country has signed 22 bilateral and multilateral intergovernmental international road transport facilitation agreements with 19 countries. China, Mongolia, Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, China and Uzbekistan, China and Russia (Dalian-Novosibirsk), and China and Vietnam have realized the trial operation of direct international road transportation, and the radiation scope of international road transportation has been further expanded.

Improved transportation cooperation system
After years of hard work, the transportation cooperation system between China and the countries along the Belt and Road has become more complete and the rules are gradually connected. Based on this, the long-term and stable progress of the Belt and Road construction can be expected. Among the more than 200 cooperation documents that China signed with 140 countries and 32 international organizations to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative, most of them involve cooperation in transportation interconnection.

China and related countries have established the Belt and Road transport cooperation mechanisms such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Transport Infrastructure Working Group and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor Transport Cooperation Working Group, and jointly formulated the "Greater Mekong Subregion Transportation Strategy 2030" and "Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Transportation" "Strategy 2030", "Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Railway Development Strategy 2030", "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Long-term Planning Transportation Plan (2014-2030)" and other documents to jointly plan regional transportation development plans and promote effective integration with existing plans in relevant countries.
Recently, the China Development and Reform Commission officially issued the "14th Five-Year Plan" to promote the implementation of high-quality construction of new land-sea corridors in the west. The overall goal of promoting the development of the industry has been significantly enhanced, and the phased goals and tasks of channel construction have been clarified from five aspects.
By then, the new land-sea corridor in the west will play a greater role in land-sea linkages, and the construction of the Belt and Road will be smoother.
