When inspecting Chinese enterprises’s projects on May 25, the Prime Minister of Serbia Milos Vucevic said that the Hungary-Serbia Railway project and the "Clean Serbia" project undertaken by Chinese enterprises will make Serbia more livable and bring tangible benefits to Serbian people.
On the same day, Vucevic and the Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic and multiple local government officials inspected the construction site of the Subotica hub project in the Novi Sad-Subotica section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway (Nosu section) and the "Clean Serbia" project in Sombor, accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming.
Vucevic said that the Nosu section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway project is now being completed, which is not only a success achieved by the close cooperation between Serbia and China, but also the best example of Serbia’s "Leap into the Future" plan.
Vucevic and Vesic expressed that as part of the "Clean Serbia" project, the construction of the Sombor’s sewage network goes well. It has solved the livelihood issues that have plagued the local residents for more than ten years, and will improve the residents’ life quality of Sombor.
Li Ming indicated that the Hungary-Serbia Railway has greatly facilitated the travel of local residents and promoted economic development, which is welcomed by all parties. Notably, it is regarded as a landmark project under the Belt and Road Initiative joint built by China and Serbia. The "Clean Serbia" project is the largest environmental protection project implemented by Chinese enterprises in Serbia and will serve 2.3 million Serbian residents upon completion.
The Nosu section of the Hungary-Serbia railway in Serbia is led by China Railway International Group Co., LTD., and constructed by a consortium formed by China Communications Construction Group Co., LTD. It starts from Novi Sad station in Serbia to the border between Serbia and Hungary, and the track-laying work was completed on April 25 this year. Besides, the "Clean Serbia" project undertaken by China Road and Bridge Corporation includes the construction of 5,200 kilometers of sewage networks and 157 sewage treatment plants in 73 cities in Serbia.
