Old Industrial Area Redevelopment

2019-05-08 | UPSC

Old industrial areas, in China, mainly refer to the urban areas characterized by the concentration of major industrial projects that were built up during the period of the First and Second Five-Year Plans, as well as that of Three Lines Construction. For a long term, they had driven the socio-economic development of the cities where they were located, even up to now in few cases, but many of them suffered from various problems, such as outdated technology, aging infrastructure, heavily polluting production, etc., along with China’s industrial restructuring, which are facing the great challenge of renovation or redevelopment in both economy, society and environment terms.
