Urban human factors engineering

2023-03-20 | UPSC

Urban human factors engineering is a very important technical concept in the field of traffic safety. "Human factors" refers to the failure of mechanical operation caused by human objective conditions, which reflects the weakness of human nature rather than the subjective and intentional behavior. Many traffic control methods are closely related to urban human factors engineering. Dangerous driving, drunk driving and other traffic violations don't belong to the scope of "human factors", instead, not taking action in time, misjudging the curve, not detecting the signal light in time, choosing the wrong speed and path, and so on, belong to the scope of "human factors". Dealing with human intentional behaviors depends on law enforcement, but dealing with "human factors" behaviors mainly depends on traffic control measures. Due to the universality of the service object, urban planning also inevitably faces the study of urban human factors engineering.
