Reversal theory

2022-08-25 | UPSC

Inversion theory is a color preference theory that sheds light on the relationship between arousal levels and emotions, which was proposed by Michel Aptel and his colleagues in 1989. This theory states that people like warm colors in a state of play, excitement or hope, and people like cool colors in a state of rest, low excitement or hope. It is further pointed out that these preferences of high arousal state or low arousal state are different during a day. No matter it is high arousal state or low arousal state, there is a preference choice at any time, rather than an intermediate state.
