Resilient Urban Form

2024-03-20 | Science Direct

Although the concept of "resilience" has long been introduced into urban planning, there has been relatively little research on the connection between urban form and resilience. Urban form represents the manifestation of human activities on spatial and temporal scales. Given the longevity of urban form elements, the choice of urban form has significant implications for urban resilience and sustainable production. At the macro level, key elements of urban form related to urban resilience include scale levels, urban size, development types (compact, dispersed, planned, informal), degree of clustering, and landscape connectivity. These elements can individually or collectively influence urban resilience, necessitating research into the interactions among these elements and their comprehensive impact on urban resilience.
