2021 China Observance of World Cities Day & The First SDG Cities Global Conference was held in Shanghai from October 30th to November 1st, 2021, which was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Shanghai Municipal People's Government and UN-Habitat.

The theme of 2021World Cities Day is Adapting Cities for Climate Resilience, which aims to raise public awareness about adapting to climate changes and urban resilience, and also to encourage effective climate actions at the national and local levels, to promote UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and New Urban Agenda and ultimately to advance the sustainable development of global cities by sharing the solutions of urban resilience improvement. The Chinese government has always attached great importance to the issue of climate changes and the construction of ecological civilization is emphasized with adhering to the path of green ,low-carbon and sustainable development. The field of housing and urban-rural construction fully implement new development concepts with the practice of Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization. And it’s called the the high-quality urban development under the lead of green and low-carbon. The development and safety are coordinated to actively respond to, prevent and resolve risks and challenges brought by climate changes. And the construction of city resilience is strengthened to ensure the safe operations of the city.
